A marketing collaboration made in the SKY. BMW partnered with Peter Salzmann a Wingsuitpilot, basejumper, skydiver and stuntman setting a new Guinness World Record for first thrust powered flight by an electric powered wingsuit.
Peter Salzmann flies his BMW electrified wingsuit through the Austrian Alps at a top speed of 299 kilometers per hour (186 mph) after jumping from a helicopter hovering just under 10,000 feet (3,000 m).
The Electrified Wingsuit by BMW i, comprises two encased carbon propellers, so-called impellers, each delivering a power output of 7.5 kW, a speed of around 25,000 rpm and a total output of 15 kW, which is available for approximately 5 minutes. It is powered by a 50V lithium-ion battery that can be activated with a thumb-operated throttle on the left sleeve of his suit.
Congrats and well done, Peter and BMW for pushing the boundaries of human potential.
